“Kill the Indian, Save the man,”was Capt. Pratt’s infamous speech in 1892 on the integration of Native Americans into mainstream America by robbing them of their identity.Indians in North America were forced into residential boarding schools to promote assimilationist policies. By 1973, there were still 60,000 Indian children in residential schools in the US (Waller 2017).
