ECOWAS has stepped up in the past to address issues of conflict within the region. Whether they can interfere in the internal affairs of states in negative peace considering the Westphalian concept of sovereignty can be argued.
This landmark ruling serves the argument for regional regimes to call governments to order where they have failed, and at the same time raises questions about the jurisdiction of the Court over sovereign states.
I salute the decision of the Court in addressing the unjust Twitter Ban and the now withdrawn( or qualified) threat by the Buhari administration to arrest Twitter users in Nigeria.
