As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, may we reflect on the many accomplishments and strides women have made from the Suffrage movement to Beijing Platform for Action and the watershed #MeToo movements.
Despite these accomplishments however, women remain marginalized in many parts of the world. And, in many parts of the world, being a woman is a pre-existing condition. Women receive less pay for equal work done by their male counterparts; a woman is more likely to die from intimate partner violence, unsuspecting girls are trafficked and sexually exploited and less women occupy leadership positions.
May March 8 remind us to strive more and demand equal and equitable treatment of women in all spheres of
endeavors. Happy International Women’s Day!
